Previous conferences

PROINLAND was first organised in 2005 (PROINLAND 2005), on the tenth anniversary of Sprilur.

It is a conference that arose from the need of exchanging experiences regarding spaces designated for fomenting the installation of industries. Its strategic objective thus is helping to revitalise blighted areas suffering industrial decline and promote land for the Basque industrial infrastructure, helping enterprises to locate.

The competition was inaugurated by the Basque Government minister for industry, Ms. Ana Aguirre, in the presence of, amongst others, the 2001 Nobel Prizewinner for Economics, Joseph Stiglitz. The US economist dealt with the future challenges in land management for industrial use, the problems generated by its scarcity, specialisation of spaces and sustainable development.
